Daniel Martin Moore: “In the Cool of the Day”

And, back to the regular record reviews. First out of the gate this year– for me, anyway– is a real gem: Daniel Martin Moore, a terrifically low-key indie singer/songwriter on the Sub Pop label, releases an imaginative and deeply personal recording of hymns and old spirituals called In the Cool of the Day. It is very different– to say the least– from any of the similarly spiritually-minded, gospel-ish releases from last year, and a really lovely album that I’ve been enjoying more and more.
