J Mascis: “Several Shades of Why”

I like Dinosaur Jr. a fair bit– their 2007 album Beyond is actually my favorite; that’s sacrilege to those who revere their earlier, college rock staples, I know, but there it is– and so I was prepared to enjoy the long-awaited J Mascis solo album as a sort of Dinosaur-gone-acoustic offering.
